How to Set Up Pet Fees

This article provides step-by-step instructions for setting up Pet Fees, either as a default package or an add-on item.

The first step is to establish a Pet Fee as a Point of Sale Item by following the instructions outlined in this article.
Next, configure the Pet Fee as a Package
Choose the option labeled 'Add New Package' to begin the setup process.

Provide a descriptive name for the Package, as this is what guests will see on both the Booking Engine and their Invoice. Then, click on 'Add Item' to proceed.

In the search field for POS Items, enter "Pet Fee" and choose the corresponding item from the drop-down menu.

Specify the Price and determine whether the Pet Fee will be charged as a one-time fee or on a daily basis.

The 'Allow' option on the Booking Engine should be set to Yes only if this package is not intended to be a default part of a Rate Plan. After making your selection, be sure to click 'Save' in the upper right corner.

The Pet Fee Package can be used either as a manual add-on or set as a default option within the Rate Plan.
Your Pet Fee Package is now successfully configured! If you have set this Package as a Default, the fee will automatically be applied when you enter the number of pets for your guests.
Furthermore, when guests indicate the number of pets they wish to bring on the Booking Engine, the Pet Fee will be automatically added to their invoice. Additionally, if a guest selects a pet, the system will showcase available pet-friendly accommodations.
For Pet Fee Packages that are not configured as a Default Package within the Rate Plan, make sure to set the 'Allow on the Booking Engine' option to Yes, and don’t forget to save your changes in the upper right corner.

During the booking process on the Booking Engine, guests will have the opportunity to specify the number of pets they wish to bring. They will find an 'Enhancements' section that allows them to add the pet fee, which will be automatically reflected on their invoice.

For instance, when a guest indicates that they have a pet, the system will present them with a selection of available pet-friendly accommodations.

Once a guest chooses their accommodation, they will be directed to an Enhancements page where they can explore various add-on package options.

The property can further refine its offerings by creating amenity tags such as "Pet Friendly" or "No Pets Allowed," which can then be assigned to specific units to clearly indicate their pet policies.
